Hello everyone, I am a new member and my intention in joining this site is to share my story, and talk with others who battle with Bipolar. I am 46 years young, and at 43, after a suicidal breakdown (following a year of unusual behaviour, irrational thinking, very deep sadness etc), I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for 1 month, and consequently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.

I have written a book titled “THE LIGHTS AREN’T ON, BUT SOMEONE’S HOME. A JOURNEY FROM DEPRESSION TO BIPOLAR”. This book is filled with my heartfelt messages, experiences, and lessons. I share with the reader how I stay weller longer, (In addition to medication). The topics and focus of my book are on self-esteem, faith, value systems, sex, gratefulness and more. It is extra important to work on these subjects when battling with the effects of Bipolar and depression.

I woke up one day and I was no longer the person I thought I was. I have chosen to live my life, with Bipolar, in an unashamed, diginified, fulfilling, and spirited manner. My website for a sticky beak is: www.depressiontobipolar.com.au

Sincerely Louise

My dad and my aunt had bipolar and since there isn’t much education about the subject in India, we really went through hell for almost a decade... I must say you are very brave Louise... your being able to talk about it might really help other people with MDP understand their own patterns!!

Louise, welcome to insta!

I’m so glad you added the bit about living with bipolar ’unashamed and dignified’, because most people believe anything that strays from the majority’s view of ’normal’ is unnatural and to be kept a secret. We hope to hear more from you so that we can try and understand more, too.
